Hope 2011 feels like heaven for you! This is going to be a fabulous year, we think, so we are taking some time to prepare for all the many wonderful opportunities to come. We will not be taking on new clients until February 1st. You may email us before then to start the process -- i.e., obtain our new client questionnaire, etc. Response time might be a little slow but we hope you will be patient with us. We promise, your final design will be well worth the wait. :)
So...for the remainder of January we will be wrapping the Deep South leg of our mobile odyssey and preparing for spring. This journey has been a healthy blend of professional research and personal enrichment for our entire family. Saturday, February 5th, 9-11am, we will be teaching a class about landscaping with and for wildlife at the Dallas Arboretum. Monday through Wednesday, February 7-9th, we will meet with new clients. Then we head south again for phase three of our ongoing project in Rockport, Texas. Tuesday, February 23rd, noon - ?, David will discuss sustainable landscaping practices and native plants for the Texas Gulf Coast. This program is sponsored by the City of Port Aransas. The following week at the same time, same venue, I (Christy) will speak about our mobile odyssey as a sustainable lifestyle. Saturday, March 12th, 10a - noon, we will present a program about sustainable landscaping practices on behalf of the City of Allen.
Whether you are in Dallas-Ft. Worth-Denton, Austin-San Marcos, the Corpus Christi area, or anywhere in between, we are available to meet with you. Typically we reserve a few days before or after our speaking engagements for new client meetings. Today we are continuing to process orders for holiday gift cards and wrap up designs for Baggett, Hudson and Rosprim. This morning we confirmed another speaking engagement. This one is for the City of Allen on Saturday, March 12th, 10am to noon. More info soon!

December News
This week and next we will be in Rockport finishing phase two of a once-in-a-lifetime project. It is not the size that is so astounding. The style and flow of the design, and the focus on native plants, make this project unique. It is a plant-artist's dream, and one that will make this writer's job of describing and documenting easy. The project promotes itself and in its own words...
We have signed on for a few speaking engagements in early 2011. Saturday, February 5th, David will teach a class about gardening with and for wildlife. Please join us at the Dallas Arboretum from 9am to 11am to learn ways to attract and sustain various species of butterflies, hummingbirds, birds and other beneficial wildlife. Later that month, on the 23rd at noon, David will speak about sustainable landscape at a brown bag lunch hosted by City of Port Aransas; meet in the Pollock Center. One week later, on March 2nd, I will present a program about sustainable living at another session hosted by City of Port Aransas. Noon in the Pollock Center, too. More dates will be announced soon.
Two designs left to turn in this year: Hudson and Rosprim. Both will be finished soon. Our focus this month turns to holiday gift cards, year-end tasks, and other administrative duties. We would also like to squeeze in some time to celebrate with family and friends. Therefore, we are not taking on new projects until after January 1st. All holiday gift cards will be redeemable starting on that date.
Since transitioning to a mobile family and business so that we may live.work.travel together, we have grown closer as a family. Our connections to and within Nature have deepened, widened and strengthened. We are still in the process of reducing the load of possessions we carry with us and store. Gradually paring down to essentials has been both liberating and surprisingly easy. Our understanding of energy -- generation, harvesting, storing and access of -- has become critical to our livelihood and lifestyle. These lessons and so many more topics about our journey are being documented at http://4x4elvalor.blogspot.com/. Now that we have reliable and efficient power, I will be posting more frequently.
